3000 particles and 1 invisible gravity orb.

Quick little side test. Managed to kill the main delay bug for the audio responsiveness. It still seems to be a little behind the audio, but much better than before.
Additionally, the particles respond to the audio in order from high x position to low x position with a little sine wave adjustment thrown in to make the three petaled flower pattern.
Check out the 72 Meg Quicktime version or view the Vimeo one below. The audio is 90 seconds pulled from a Karri O. mix.

Robert, this looks stunning! You made an already overused idea look new again.
Its trite, but its fun! Its future retro!
futuretro ?
it’s biodisco !
(although technically it’s more physics than biology, i can’t help seeing some life form in it)
i love it

So pretty. I like pretty things.
Charlie, is that you?! Miss drinking endless cups of coffee with you. Hope you are well!
Yep, tis little ole me. Living in Carrboro now but still drinking way to much coffee, but it does reverse aging or so it seems. Really love seeing the works you have been creating. Inspiring stuff and probably more fun than this law office I now work in as a legal assistant (yea, go figure with the way I look)
hey robert,
its fun watching this project evolve. looks really nice. i’m just wondering if the video is realtime or one that you’ve captured out frame by frame. thanks.

HI!
This animation amazing !! no realy !!
I’v download the software ( Processing ) for try to “create the same” kind of video.. but i am a newbie..
It’s the fist time i’am tryng to create image like this.. ( I use 3dsmax and AE for my job )
I’ve try Processing.. but.. well…. I dont understand ( not yet ) how to create picture like this.. ( very big code i think )
Can you ‘tell/teach” how to begin videos like that?
One more time .. WOW for your videos ( i’am talking about all the video )
thanks you
ZFP from France!
Stunning, mesmerizing, ad hypnotic!
This is in general for all the videos ive seen posted here!
Who knew Code and Sound combined can look sooooooo beautiful!
You should start teaching us bit by bit how to achieve similar results… (for non programmers)
Keep kickin ass!

Hey Robert!
Good lookin new stuff you gots there. It’s really evolved a long way. Can’t wait till you get some real jellyfish looking forms out of that.
Oh yeah, too bad you missed our yahoo shindig. Free booze, and we got the Nimoys to perform!. Pics on my blog.

Hi – really nice work. I’ve been really enjoying processing recently, but haven’t explored the OpenGL library at all. Do you make source for your projects available? I’m really interested in some of the physics and audio processing as well as the OpenGL stuff. Also with the performance – are the hi-res videos generated realtime?
Anyhow, great work – I’d love to see the code if possible!
phenomenal
now if only I could replicate it into a quilt design I could take 1st prize ;o)
What an awesome expereinece.
Is really playing smooth on my system at a high intensity.
Cheers
[...] Occasionally some processing hacker just goes crazy. And the result…is genius. Of course the same thing was popular with C++ coders about 8 years ago, but those guys moved on and got real jobs. [...]

[...] While playing around with the magnetosphere code, I found myself wondering what it would look like if I restricted the movement of the particles to the surface of a sphere. Well, it ended up looking like I thought it would. Pretty, but ultimately not an improvement. It looked a bit like the magnetic structure bucky ball pieces from a couple months ago. [...]
What if you connected the output to an array of leds that are configured in a sphere. Maybe it would become an enviroment responsive discoball. Now that would be cool as well. Great work btw!
